Dear Parents,
I am very excited to see what incredible designs our young fashion designers are going to create this season. Classes began this week (week of Sept. 12th). We will begin with researching and sketching some design ideas and your designer won’t need anything for class. The second week of class she will need her fabric and trims. You are invited to join me at the garment district and I would be happy to help each child with her design and fabric selection. If you cannot attend that weekend due to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday then please refer to bottom of this letter. I have included suggested stores and yardages so that you may take your designer at a time that fits your schedule.
Trip to Garment Center: This is a super fun experience. I invite all the designers to join me at the garment center in downtown Los Angeles to select fabric and trims on Saturday OR Sunday. You may bring your daughter at anytime during the hours listed below. I will be there in the store to help her figure out her design and choose fabrics and
trims. If your daughter is nervous, please assure her that I will help her come up with a super cool design. It is also fun to carpool with friends. I recommend you allow approximately 2 hours. I do help every designer but please understand that it may be difficult for me to get to every girl promptly if I have a lot of girls show up at the same time. I appreciate your patience in advance.
I encourage a maximum budget of $30-$40 for fabric and trim. This is a great exercise in learning how to stay on budget.
Michael Levine’s has graciously offered us a 10% discount on materials and validated parking in lot next to Michael Levine’s (southeast side). Be sure to let them know you are with my class when you check out.
Please Email if you plan to attend.
